Dandruff can be traced back to different causes. For example, the use of a false shampoo or stress in everyday life can be the reason. Also a possible infestation by yeast fungi on the scalp and numerous other causes are conceivable. You should know the cause before you start fighting dandruff.
Under no circumstances should you scratch your scalp, otherwise there is a risk of infection! In addition, refrain from using aggressive shampoos, hairsprays or gels and use the following household remedies instead.
1. yoghurt against dandruff
Probiotic natural yoghurt is a proven household remedy against dandruff. The living cultures in yoghurt help to combat yeast fungi effectively. This fungus is often responsible for dandruff. Gently rub your scalp with the yoghurt and let it work like a hair treatment for about 30 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly.
2. nutrition for a healthy scalp
Not only wrong care or stress can be the causes for dandruff. Nutrition also plays a role. Zinc, in particular, should appear on your diet, because zinc deficiency can manifest itself in flaky scalp. The trace element is found above all in fish, whole grain products and oat flakes.
3. oils help with dandruff
Natural oils such as olive or tea tree oil help with dry scalps. Simply mix a few drops with a mild shampoo.
You can also mix the two oils together. Stir ten drops of tea tree oil into a tablespoon of olive oil and gently massage into your scalp.
4. proper care for scalp and hair
There are many things you can do wrong with hair care: Wash too hot, use too many aggressive care and styling products or rub too hard when washing and drying your hair. Before washing, you should always comb your hair so that dry skin flakes are removed. Also make sure to wash your hair with lukewarm water. This protects both scalp and hair. The same applies to blow-drying: If possible, do without it and let your hair dry in the air.
Also reduce the use of care and styling products. The scalp can react allergically to hair sprays and gels. Too much care is counterproductive for dandruff, as the skin can then dry out.
Tip: Too much shampoo is often used: A portion the size of a hazelnut is enough. Always rinse the shampoo thoroughly!
5. avoid stress in everyday life
Stress can also be a cause of scalp flaking – especially in people who are prone to skin problems. Once the white flakes are there, they also contribute to the feeling of discomfort. Nevertheless, you should try to relax and think about possible problems or anxieties.
Walks can support this. The head becomes free and fresh air is good for the irritated scalp. Also make sure you eat a healthy diet and get enough sleep.
6. see a doctor in case of acute dandruff
If none of the household remedies help or the dandruff even intensifies, it is better to consult a dermatologist. Your dermatologist will be able to tell you if you have a fungal infection or an allergic reaction. He will also advise you on the right therapy.
